'93-'97 MERCURY VILLAGER/NISSAN QUEST NO REAR BLOWER OPERATION

When troubleshooting a "No Rear Blower Operation" complaint, a common failure to look for is an open ground circuit. Rear blower operation, for both front and rear switches, is controlled through the ground circuit of the front HVAC control panel.

Remove the front HVAC control panel. Insure that the blower switch, for the rear blower motor, is either in the "REAR" position or on one of the speed selections. Next, check continuity between the wires of the two-pin connector (ground circuit) while still connected to the control panel.

If continuity does not exist, remove the top cover of the HVAC control panel. Carefully check the printed circuit board for cracks or a broken solder joint. A broken solder joint can generally be found near one of the corners.

Two possible repairs may be done. If only the solder joint is broken, re-solder the joint. (Do not use acid core solder). Should the circuit board be cracked beyond repair, replace the HVAC control panel with a new assembly.
