1989 Maxima - No Start Parking Uphill
Owners of 1989 Maximas (Bosch p/n AL338X) may complain of starters that won't work when the vehicle is parked with the rear of the vehicle facing up hill. To make this problem go away, you could tell these people to:
- Only park their cars facing up hill.
- Put lots of unnecessary starters and labor into the car
- Check the green/black wire going between the inhibitor switch and the ignition switch.
If you picked #3, you saved yourself a lot of time. The original wire tie was too tight, which in turn cuts the green/black wire. When parked uphill, additional strain on the wiring harness is present due to gravity which creates an open circuit. Simply repairing the damaged wire and loosening the wire tie will fix the problem and prevent it from recurring.
