1995 Hyundai's - Adjusting Belt Tension
Sometimes even if you try to do the job by the book you can get in trouble-especially if you didn't know that the book had been revised! In order for an alternator to work properly, one of the most basic items to check is the belt tension. If you go by the book on 1995 Hyundai's (p/n AL4006X, AL4008X, AL4009X, AL4017X, AL4025X) you probably won't get the belt tension set correctly as Hyundai changed the spec! To adjust or inspect belt tension Hyundai recommends that you use either a belt tension gauge or use the deflection method.
The following chart gives the revised belt tension specs for either a new or used belt.
