Ford Ranger - Hard/No Start, Discharged Battery
1993-94 Ford Ranger 3.0L engine
SYMPTOMS: The battery is continually discharged, which leads to a "No Start" condition.
PROBABLE CAUSE: This condition is usually caused by the heater fan switch being left in the "ON" position when the vehicle is shut off. Doing so causes the voltage regulator to leave the alternator energized even though the vehicle is shut off.
CORRECTIVE ACTION: To correct this condition Ford has established part number (F47Z-14A411-A), which is a jumper harness kit that prevents the alternator from being energized with the key off. Installation instructions are included with the Jumper Harness kit.
