'95 Neon - Discharged Battery
Who would have thought that such a little car could have so many lights? 1995 Neons (AL6519X) may have discharged batteries from as many as three different lights which remain on when the vehicle is shut off. These cars have been known to have glove box lights, dome lights, and trunk lights which remain on when the car is shut off, and the lights are switched off. To make sure that these lights stay off when they are supposed to, Chrysler offers the following advice and replacement parts.
Glove box light - If the door closes properly and the light stays on, you should replace the glove box door with a replacement door which has a Z\," raised panel to properly close the switch (p/ns EW42PF8 DRIFTWOOD, EW42PS6 QUARTZ)
Dome lights - Common causes of this condition are misaligned doors, and missing or damaged door ajar switch bumper pads. If aligning the doors doesn't fix it, check the condition of the pads and replace any damaged or missing ones with p/n 4615952.
Trunk light - Replace the trunk lid switch with a new one (p/n 4658809) if the trunk light remains on after the car and lights are shut off.
After replacing any of these parts, Chrysler suggests that you perform a parasitic draw test to ensure that you have corrected the problem.
