Accounting

Our accounting people take care of the store-level accounting in each of our Olympus stores. In most of our stores, the accounting is handled by a 2-person team. Daily responsibilities are rotated regularly so that team members share tasks equally.

The primary responsibilities of the accounting team are:

• Processing of paperwork following deliveries to customers.
• Posting of payments to customer accounts and preparation of bank deposits.
• Researching customer returns and processing of credits to customers.
• Handling a wide variety of additional administrative tasks related to store operations.

A store accountant with Olympus is directly involved in the minute-to-minute operation of the store. You are involved with your fellow employees in other departments of the store all the time. So if you want an accounting job where you are in a back office away from everybody, we’re afraid that Olympus isn’t for you. If you want to be involved in the flow of a highly successful business with lots of people and lots of activity, this may be your dream job!

Many members of our accounting staff were promoted from driver and warehouse positions. So if you don’t have accounting experience but think you may like to work in accounting one day, you can start with our delivery or warehouse team and go from there. Most of our home office accounting staff was promoted from store accounting positions.

Olympus may also be able to help you with the cost of a college education with its tuition reimbursement program.

To be eligible for a store accounting position with Olympus, you must:

• Have a minimum education of high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Have good basic math skills – making change, simple addition & subtraction.
• Be very accurate.
• Have the aptitude to become very proficient in data entry and 10-key calculator.
• Enjoy working with other people.

Pay:

• Full-time pays $10.50 to $11.00 to start depending on skills and experience.
• Time and a half overtime rate for hours worked over 40.
• Your pay rate is reviewed each year on your hire date anniversary.

Hours:

• We are open for business Monday-Friday 8-6 and on Saturdays 8-3. Saturday is a normal work day for us. We are not open on Sundays.
• You are assigned a start time each day and you can expect to be scheduled for at least 8 hours on weekdays and 7 hours every other Saturday.
• While a 40-47 hour week is typical, additional overtime hours may be required to meet our customers’ needs.
